Masuoshan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Tongweng area, Muli County, Sichuan Province. It was named by Du Qiliang in 1979.

Lithology and Thickness
It is mainly composed of light gray to dark gray medium-thick to massive limestone, biological limestone and argillaceous limestone, interlaced with gray-green calcareous sericite slate and thin calcareous siltstone. The thickness is 617 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformable in contact to the underlying the Sanzhushan Fm
Upper contact
It is disconformable with the overlying Gasi Fm (Qugasi Fm in this Lexicon usage)
Regional extent
It is well-developed in western Sichuan, mainly in Yidun, Muli, Daocheng and other areas. The strata in Yidun area of Sichuan Province are equivalent to the Masuoshan Fm, which was once called Lieyi Fm in “Regional Stratigraphic Tables of Southwest China Sichuan Branch”. Rao Rongbiao (1987) followed the Masuoshan Fm and identified it as a stratigraphic unit representing the Middle Triassic Ladinian deposits in the Yidun and Muli areas of Sichuan Province.
